SCI Foundation announces the winners of its Shine a Light Poster Competition on World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day. Aishwarya, Anusha, and Sahara Aziz have been selected for their insightful and creative drawings.

SCI Foundation invited children from around the world to submit posters in order to raise awareness about neglected tropical diseases (NTDs).

The winning posters and those shortlisted will be displayed in a special exhibit at the Houses of Parliament.

The award winners and their prize bundles will be presented at an event organized by the UK Coalition Against Neglected Tropical Diseases to commemorate World NTD Day on the 30th of January.

The Kingston branch of Cass Art, an art supplier, generously sponsored the prizes and promoted the competition.

I want to thank all of the children from the UK and abroad who participated in our poster contest. The posters and the motivations for participating show that we can all make a difference to people who are affected by neglected tropical diseases, regardless of our age or expertise. “It is important to put these diseases on the global map, not only on World NTD Day but all year round,” said Wendy Harrison, CEO of SCI Foundation.

“We will not make the progress we need in all those neglected tropical diseases until we have the right tools, and more tools, to try and really address the needs of the patients the right way.”

Dr Harrison concluded

“We wanted to raise the awareness of NTDs creatively, and we knew that having youth interpret them through their lenses is a great way to engage different audiences. You can see that the creativity of the participants and the sheer number of responses was outstanding.

Professor Gyapong:

“With less that a decade left to achieve sustainable development goals, and plans to implement an entirely new strategy, my co-President Dr Wendy Harrison and myself pledge to work closely with key stakeholders to identify and address current global health challenges as best we can.”

“I am thrilled to contribute as coPresident. I will bring together a diverse array of global experts to not only drive RSTMH’s priorities forward but also to address the broader challenges we face today in a changing global health landscape,” said Dr Harrison.

RSTMH aims to improve tropical medicine through increased awareness.

Access and equity in global health care

Unlimited Health congratulates Professor Gyapong and Dr Harrison on their respective awards.

RSTMH wishes RSTMH all the best in their future priorities.

If Ponzi Pinot Noir is better, then it’s a no-brainer. Is this wine from Italy? No. It’s Oregon. It’s Pinot Noir. Every sommelier in the world (except for a few who are obsessed with oddball grapes such as Ploussard) believes that Pinot Noir is the perfect red grape to pair with anything. What more could you want? Berry fruit, fine tannins, and bright acidity.

Except maybe everyone’s longtime pizza go-to, Chianti. If this was a Vegas betting event, Tenuta di Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva is the 3-1 favorite. It’s a sure thing. Spicy, firm, with lots of dark fruit notes. From a top Tuscan producer. Winner-winner pizza dinner. Unless, of course, one of the other winners. Anyone who lives in 2020 will know that life is full of surprises.
