BHSc (Herb Med), AdvDip (Naturopathy), BA (Hons), Cert FitGenes, ANTA
I am a clinical naturopath, medical herbalist and nutrigenomic specialist with a passion for gut health, mental health and how they both interact with our genes.
Having had severe health issues myself, I understand all too well the frustration, hopelessness and exhaustion that come with complex health issues.
What I learnt through my personal health struggles is that there is no magic pill that is going to resolve your health issues.
This is because health is multi-factorial and depends on a state of balance that is achieved when your cellular biochemistry, your mental outlook, your diet, lifestyle and genes all interact in a mutually beneficial manner.
It is because of this complexity of interactions that many patients suffering with chronic conditions are failed by their practitioners. There is no point in giving a statin for high cholesterol or beta-blocker for hypertension when the causes of each condition haven’t been identified.
Our bodies are highly sophisticated and usually only develop symptoms as an outer manifestation of an inner imbalance. This imbalance may be caused by infections, nutritional deficiencies, intolerances, expressing genetic predispositions, drug or lifestyle-induced or caused by a profound disruption of the gut microbiota.
I see myself as a health detective, helping each patient unravel the complexity of their condition, identifying causes and triggers and establishing a therapeutic order of treatment that is going to have a knock-on effect on every aspect of their health. I like to offer symptomatic relief while addressing the underlying causes of disease through nutritional, dietary, herbal or lifestyle-based interventions.
I am functional in my approach, meaning I use comprehensive biochemical testing (bloods urine stool), which I interpret in a way that tells me what parts of your body may be under- or over-functioning.
I have completed extensive studying in clinical nutrigenomics through Bastyr University, Seeking Health Institute and MTHFR Support US & Australia.
My special areas of interest for both adults and children are:
- Gastrointestinal infections (Blastocystis, Dientamoeba, Giardia etc)
- Crohn’s disease
- Ulcerative Colitis
- Coeliac’s disease
- Non-Coeliac gluten sensitivity
- Malabsorption syndromes
- Food Intolerances
- Panic disorders
- Poor stress resilience
- Full genetic reporting
I look forward to working with you and helping you unlock your individual genetic potential
by advising you on the best dietary approach, nutritional supplements
and exercise to enhance your wonderfully unique genome and gut microbiome.
